At the KPA Executive meeting last week, the Committee nominated their representative for the WDC Walking and Cycling Strategy Steering Group.

The Waimakariri Walking and Cycling Strategy 2017-22 was adopted by Council in March 2017, and includes an action plan that is reviewed annually by the Steering Group.

KPA Chairman Martin Pinkham has been appointed, and will work in partnership with a wide group of representatives, including the Waimakariri Access Group, Age Friendliness Group, the Youth Council, walking and cycling advocates, Police, ECan, Enterprise North Canterbury, Council and Community Board members, Rangiora Promotion Association and Environment Canterbury.

Board Chair Martin Pinkham said, “The opening of the new cycle link over the Waimakariri River as part of the Northern Corridor provides Kaiapoi with a great opportunity. The Steering Group will be instrumental in guiding the development of complimentary connections into central Kaiapoi, and the staging of future cycle facilities.”
