Our fleet of Hamilton Jet boats make easy work of the swift flowing river as it rushes from the Southern Alps to the sea.Jet Thrills is proud of its relationship with Hamilton Jets. Their rugged construction, simplicity of operation and outstanding reliability make us confident in choosing them first every time. The Waimakariri River starts in the Southern Alps and meanders for 126 kilometres all the way to the sea. In a jet boat it only takes 3 hours to cover this distance. This unique river craft is able to skim over shallow streams only centimetres deep and turn in its own length – also known as the 360ᵒ spin. The translation of Waimakariri is ‘cold water’, it is also very clean, which makes it very popular for salmon and trout fishing. On any of the tours provided by Jet Thrills through the Waimakariri Regional Park, one of New Zealand’s newest parks, it is possible to see the many examples of birdlife that make this area their home – wrybills, spur-winged plover and black shag. Our skilled drivers are highly experienced and our purpose built boats are carefully maintained.
